Lockdown 2020

Like others life was very restrictive not just physically but mentally too with very little outside stimulus to help the creative juices flowing.
None the less I managed a few works, some of which are here. They were largely inward looking being based on memories and trying to establish a connection between the artist, the viewer and the subject matter in a meaningful landscape.

The places depicted are of special importance to me, in particular the snow-scape of Northern Saskatchewan in winter when the ground is snow covered for 6 months or more and where I lived for 15 months completing my Masters in the local environment.

Ascoli Piceno, the pre Roman small town in the Marche in Italy, is where we had a house for 13 years in a converted 14 century convent. The old Roman bridge over the Tronto River is still a thorough fare. It is 500 metres from our house and is the second of my works.

The third is a collaged piece trying to invoke the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path where we spent a few days holiday at a time when it was relatively safe to travel. This is a work in process.

These works are to be part of a group show in January 2021 at the Putney Art School.
