Drawing: Oct 2017 – Jan 2018

After many years painting it was about time I learned to draw. Pencil lines on paper never appealed, partly I suppose because I had never had any lessons or apprecation ,even at school, or 50 years later, at Chelsea and Wimbledon Art Schools, and partly because most drawing, except by masters like Da Vinci and Durer, bored me.

I have only recently had a light bulb moment inspired by my tutor at Putney School of Art and Design, viz, that drawing was almost anything 2D , that was not painting, and that any medium on any ground was a legitimate way to approach the challenge.

In anticipation of my eventual desire to create abstractions, I have leaned heavily on the discipline of representation as a first step, where possible adding an abstract flavour.

The works that follow are a sample of my efforts.
